String Band
[Thursday 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.]

- For students in Chamber Strings and open to a small number (1 – 2) of guitar/mandolin/banjo students playing at a proficient level.
- This ensemble explores regional folk music styles in an acoustic string band format. Students will learn arrangements of traditional instrumental repertoire, drawing from Bluegrass, Old-Time, Appalachian, Celtic, and other folk music traditions. This class will include the study of arranging and instrumentation, as well as techniques for improvisation in various styles.
- Students will need to be evaluated by the director for placement into this ensemble.
- 7 weeks of instruction per semester.
