Darcy M. Ryerson
VOC High School Director
Darcy M. RYERSON thoroughly enjoys sharing her delight in music with students. Music has influenced Darcy since infancy and has played a primary role throughout her life: taking piano lessons and competing; playing clarinet in bands; singing in choirs and as a soloist; learning guitar and organ; and lastly, receiving her education degree in choral music from Florida State University (1992) where she met her husband, Jim RYERSON. Darcy worked as a choral music director in both Georgia and Florida for three years prior to having children. During her years of homeschooling and actively parenting her six children, she would assist fellow choir directors in their schools or programs when asked. Having assisted in the choirs of Voices of Carolina for several years, Darcy is humbled by God now guiding her to direct the high school choir of VOC, an ensemble of Piedmont Music Academy. Prayerfully, she will encourage young choral students to glorify God with their voices and hearts through singing.
Claire Incorvati
VOC Middle School Director
Claire Incorvati officially began piano lessons at age 7 in Falls Church, Virginia; but her musical upbringing started much earlier, as almost her entire family on both sides is comprised of musicians. In addition to studying piano, she sang with her church children’s and youth choirs, and was in choir, marching band, and musical theater productions throughout high school. She graduated from James Madison University in 2015 with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education and a concentration in piano. She taught elementary general music in Maryland before moving to South Carolina with her husband Anthony and their dog Patch.
Claire taught choir at South Pointe High School for two years before transitioning away from public school. This will be Claire’s second year teaching choir and music theory with PMA, and she is blessed beyond imagination to have found such a wonderful organization! Her belief is that music is for everyone, and she tailors her instruction to meet the needs of each student, putting relationships first, with the goal that her students will be life-long lovers of music. Claire and her family live in Rock Hill where she also teaches private piano and voice lessons.
Eirik Shevy
VOC Elementary Choir
Eirik Shevy grew up with musical parents who always encouraged him to use music to serve God and others in church, nursing homes, and community events. His homeschool curriculum from elementary through high school included piano and trumpet lessons. He attended Maranatha Baptist University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Music Education. He also attended Bob Jones University, where he met his wife, Brigette. They both received Master of Music degrees in 2005 – Brigette in composition and Eirik in vocal/choral music. Together they have four children who are all, interestingly, into music.Eirik loves a variety of music from around the world and has visited many foreign locations. He taught music at an international school in Taiwan for two years, at a private school near Detroit for six years, and in Rock Hill Schools for eight years. He currently serves as an Associate Pastor of Music at Harvest Baptist Church and is grateful for his opportunity to stay involved with students in the community through VOC choirs. If your child has the chance to be in his group, you should expect lots of musical development accompanied by energy and fun!
